The queen is a pretty incredible woman.
She reigned for 66 years, she reached the age of 93 without making a real slip, and she is an icon around the world.
In short, she’s a badass.
When a new building for the London School of Economics opened at the height of the financial crash of 2008, she reportedly asked, “So how come none of you saw this happen ? “
She is witty, she is intelligent and she is not afraid of anything.
Here is barely 15 times that the queen has proven that she was harder than the rocks of her tiara.
1. When she did target training with a giant rifle

She managed to fire the final shot during the centenary of the Army Rifle Association.
2. When she served during the Second World War
Princess Elizabeth as subordinate commander of the ATS inspecting the Motor Training Training Center in May 1945.
When she was princess, Elizabeth worked as a truck mechanic and driver for the Women’s Auxiliary Territorial Service.
She is the only royal woman to have served her country and the only monarch to have served during the Second World War.
3. When she married the man she loved, even when his family did not approve
The then king and queen wanted their daughter to marry a respectable English duke. Philip was a prince of Greece and Denmark, and the royal family did not trust them. Besides, he had no money.
She married him anyway.
4. When she didn’t take her husband’s last name
The decision deeply upsets Philip
It was in fact Winston Churchilll who advised him not to do so.
Prince Philip insisted that it take her surname, Mountbatten, but British officials and the monarchy wanted to continue using Windsor as it was the name of the royal family.
5. When she rode an elephant on a tiger hunt
Queen Elizabeth was also Queen of India when she first ascended the throne and made a royal visit to the country in 1961.
She rode an elephant a few times during the trip, but the hardest part was definitely the tiger hunt. She looks very nonchalant surrounded by all the danger.
6. When she was shot but didn’t get off her horse
During the Trooping the Color of 1981, a 17-year-old boy shot the queen blank while she was riding on horseback.
As the police, guards and passers-by screamed in panic, the queen seemed to remain completely calm. She patted her horse and continued to ride.

Who could forget this emblematic opening of the London 2012 Olympic Games.
9. When she joked the late Saudi king Abdulla bin Abdulaziz
She took him for a ride in her Land Rover, accelerating along tiny tracks around Balmoral and showing his military training.
For the king, it was a shock – in his country, women were not even allowed to drive.
10. When she calmed a mentally ill man in her room
He broke into Buckingham Palace and managed to reach his room.
She obviously called for help, but while waiting for security to arrive, she calmed him down.
