Last night, Andrade shocked many people when he won the United States Championship at Madison Square Garden, beating Rey Mysterio in the process.
We’ve seen WWE allow headlines to change hands at home shows in the past, but it’s definitely a rare occurrence. Andrade is one of the fastest growing stars in all of professional wrestling, not just the WWE, and many believe that it’s been a long time for the Mexican star.
The man himself took to Twitter to celebrate the victory – apparently sending a message to the rest of the roster in the process.
Andrade claimed that this was only the beginning of his rise to prominence, suggesting that they would “go for more”. While it seems unlikely that this will start a story in which it is trying to win as many titles as possible, it would certainly be a bit ‘different’ out there.
Andrade and Zelina Vega are working better as a team and fans will be happy to see that they don’t seem to be going their separate ways anytime soon. Instead, Vega will continue to help Andrade, hoping that this reigning midcard title will allow him to go from strength to strength.
There is an argument to be made that the US title was not relevant as it was held by homosexuals John Cena and Rusev, giving Andrade the opportunity to really shine in that role in the coming weeks and months.
