A 22-year-old alleged heroin dealer in custody in Cook County for unrelated charges has been charged in Kane County for the overdose of a 30-year-old woman’s death.
Gehovani Gomez, of Elgin, is accused of a felony count of drug-induced murder in Sept. 6, 2018, the death of Crystal Villegas of West Dundee, according to the state office of Kane County.

Earlier that day, Villegas used heroin that she allegedly bought from Gomez, got an overdose and then died, the prosecutors said. An autopsy showed that she died of intoxication with heroin and fentanyl.
A judge in Kane County ordered Gomez to hold a bail of $ 500,000, the prosecutors said.
Gomez has been in custody in Cook County since September 2018 for unrelated armed robberies, according to court records.
His first court date in Kane County has not yet been established, prosecutors said.
