The YouTube Music iOS app gets the lyrics feature

YouTube Music has launched a new feature in its iOS app that allows users to read the lyrics of a song as they play.

To use the new lyrics feature, tap the Info (i) button below the video you are watching and scroll down. If the lyrics are available, you can see them below the tracking bar.

Unlike some lyrics available on Apple Music, YouTube Music lyrics don’t progress in real time as the song progresses, so you’ll need to manually scroll down to keep the music on time.

As noted by The Verge, not all songs on YouTube Music have lyrics, even if they have been published on official artist or record labels, but they may continue to spread as the service continues to appear.

The new lyrics feature of iOS YouTube Music works for both paid and non-paying users. Customers who sign up for Google Play Music will also automatically sign up for YouTube Music, which is expected to replace the old service soon.

Real-time lyrics were just added to MacApple Music‌ on a Mac. For a direct comparison between hereApple Music‌‌ and Google Play / YouTube Music, click here.
